Mike Murley and David Occhipinti “Duologue”

Saxophonist Mike Murley and guitarist David Occhipinti began playing in and around Toronto as a duo in 1999. The intimate musical rapport that they developed during this period led to the recording of two “Duologue” CDs in 2002 and 2005, garnering critical acclaim as well as Juno and National Jazz Award nominations.  These recordings have led the duo to concert and festival performances across Canada from Halifax to the Yukon.

David Occhipinti

Guitarist/composer David Occhipinti has four CD’s featuring his own compositions: David Occhipinti (1997), Syzygy (1999), Intersection (2003) and Forty Revolutions (2007) which was nominated for a Juno Award. David has been commissioned to compose for string quartet and other chamber groups and ensembles. David studied in New York with the legendary jazz guitarist Jim Hall during the mid 1990’s. David has toured in Canada, the US, Europe and Japan. He presently teaches guitar and ensembles at the University of Toronto and at Humber College.
